Service
A fractional CFO who shows up with a forecast, not a slide deck.
Fractional CFO services from ProvenCFO give an owner-led company a part-time chief financial officer: a 13-week cash forecast, a monthly Financial Intelligence Session, and a strategic partner at the table for cash, bank, investor, hiring and growth decisions, with recommendations put in writing. From $1,500 a month, compared with $150,000 to $250,000 a year for a full-time CFO.

Is this the right level?
- There is a decision in front of you: a hire, a line of credit, a raise, a new location, an acquisition.
- You are profitable on paper and short on cash, and you want to know why before the bank asks.
- You are raising money, refinancing, or preparing to sell in the next one to three years.
- You want a CFO on the leadership team without the salary, the equity ask, or the search.
How onboarding runs
Position
We read the financials and the cash, meet the team, and list the decisions coming in the next 90 days.
First forecast
The 13-week cash forecast is built from the live ledger. If the books are not reliable, cleanup starts first; CFO work on bad numbers is theater.
Operating rhythm
Monthly session, a CFO at the table as decisions come up, recommendations in writing, and a KPI set you agreed to.
Questions
What does a fractional CFO do?
A fractional CFO is a part-time chief financial officer. At ProvenCFO that means a 13-week cash forecast, a monthly session to read the numbers with you, a strategic partner at the table for cash, bank, hiring and growth decisions with recommendations put in writing, and a CFO who joins the bank, investor or board conversation. The work is forward-looking; the controller and bookkeeper keep the books behind it.
How much does a fractional CFO cost?
At ProvenCFO, $1,500 a month for Foundation, $4,000 for Growth and $6,500 for Executive, on top of bookkeeping and controller. Across the market, $3,000 to $10,000 a month is typical for a company between $2 million and $30 million. A full-time CFO costs $150,000 to $250,000 a year plus benefits. The cost guide has the full comparison.
How many hours a month do I get?
Tiers are scoped by outcome, not hours. Foundation is roughly 4 to 6 hours a month of CFO time plus the forecast work. Growth and Executive scale with the decisions on the table. If a month runs long, we tell you before it does.
Do I need a CFO or a controller?
If the question is 'are the numbers right and what happened?', a controller. If it is 'what should we do next and can we afford it?', a CFO. Most $3 million to $15 million companies start with bookkeeping plus controller and add CFO when a financing, growth or exit decision shows up. We will tell you if you do not need the CFO tier yet.
Can the CFO be on site?
Yes, when being in the room matters. Most CFO work is remote by design, including due diligence and board presentations; we come to the bank meeting, the investor pitch and the leadership offsite when being in the room matters.
Will you help us raise money or sell?
We prepare you for it. Executive tier includes the financial model and use-of-proceeds, lender and investor packages, exit readiness and Quality of Earnings preparation, and a CFO in the meetings. We do not raise capital, broker transactions or sell securities; your bankers, brokers and attorneys run the deal.
