Service

Tax prepared from the same books we close.

Business and owner tax returns prepared and signed by licensed CPAs who work alongside the ProvenCFO team, from the ledger we keep. No shoebox, no April cleanup list, no handoff between the bookkeeper and the preparer. Quarterly estimates and planning are part of the work, not an extra call.

Is this the right level?

  • Your CPA and your bookkeeper are two different firms, and every April you are the go-between.
  • You get a tax bill in March with no warning and no plan.
  • You sell in more than one state and nobody has looked at sales tax nexus.
  • You want one team that keeps the books, plans the year, and files the return.

How onboarding runs

Onboarding

Prior returns and open years

We read the last two years of returns and the current books, and list anything that needs fixing before the next filing.

During the year

Estimates and planning

Quarterly estimates from live numbers. A planning call in the fourth quarter.

Filing season

Return from a closed ledger

The books are closed by the 10th business day of January, so the return is drafted in February, not October.

Questions

Is ProvenCFO a CPA firm?

No. ProvenCFO is an accounting and advisory firm. Returns are prepared and signed by licensed CPAs who work with our team from the books we close. You get one point of contact and one set of numbers.

Do you only do tax for bookkeeping clients?

Tax works best when we also keep the books, because the return comes from a ledger we trust. We take tax-only engagements case by case.

What about multistate sales tax?

We set up, register and file sales tax across states for e-commerce and service companies, including nexus reviews. Our team has run sales tax compliance in 40 states.

How much does a return cost?

Quoted per return after we see the prior year and the current books. A single-entity S corp with clean books is at the low end; multi-entity, multistate and inventory are higher. The quote is fixed before we start.
